Primitive wildlife solutions

Primitive Wildlife Solutions provides bat removal and bat exclusion for homes and commercial buildings across Central Florida, from Kissimmee and St. Cloud to Clermont, Davenport and Haines City. Bats are protected in Florida, so bat removal is not trapping. It is a planned exclusion process that lets the bats leave on their own and then keeps them from coming back.

Florida Bat Laws and Maternity Season

Florida law protects bats, and it is illegal to kill or harm them. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission prohibits bat exclusions during maternity season, which runs from April 16 through August 14. During those months, flightless young are in the roost and would be trapped inside if the adults were excluded.

Exclusion devices must be used according to FWC guidelines, and poisons or repellents are not a legal or effective option. If you call us during maternity season, we can inspect, confirm the roost and schedule the exclusion for the first legal date.

Signs of Bats in Your Home

  • Small dark droppings (guano) stacked below a gap in the roofline, siding or shutters
  • Brown staining or rub marks around a small opening
  • Squeaking or fluttering sounds in walls or the attic around dusk
  • Bats seen flying out of the roofline at sunset
  • A strong ammonia odor in the attic

Where Bats Roost in Central Florida Buildings

Common roost sites include gaps behind fascia boards, roof tile edges, soffit returns, attic vents, gaps behind shutters and expansion joints on commercial buildings. Bats need only a very small opening to get inside, so a detailed inspection matters.

Our Bat Exclusion Process

  • Inspection. We find the active roost, the exit points bats are using, and every other gap they could move to.
  • Seal secondary gaps. Openings the bats are not actively using are sealed first.
  • Install one-way exclusion devices. Devices go on the active exits so bats can leave to feed but cannot re-enter, following FWC requirements.
  • Final sealing. Once the bats are out, the devices are removed and the remaining openings are permanently sealed.
  • Guano guidance. We explain options for dealing with accumulated guano, which should not be disturbed without proper protection.
